Sierra
Sierra
Sierra was rescued in a "commando" raid in conjunction with Cape Fear House Rabbit Society in Wilmington, NC. We were actually visiting Cape Fear HRS when a call came in from a pizza driver. He had seen what he thought was a domestic rabbit in a yard near a very busy intersection....suitably named Military Cutoff. He gave very detailed information.  We were on the scene in minutes. We found the rabbit immediately, and we "acquired the target" without any difficulty.  We found this little beauty out in the wild all by herself...very scared.  She seemed to be relieved that she had been rescued.  A couple of days later, she had a litter of little ones.  She is a great bun and has been adopted to a very special "forever home." She has been reunited with one of her babies.

Daniel (Danny) & Miracle

Danny

Miracle

Danny & Miracle

Danny (brown lop, front) was near death after being "set free" and forced to fend for himself.  He has chronic conjuctivitis (eye infection) caused by pasteurella and is also totally deaf.  Miracle (white lop, back) was severely injured in a car accident in which none of her humans survived -- and she was paralyzed.  Even though they have both been granted "sanctuary" status and will remain here for the rest of their lives due to their medical conditions, the "Happy Tails" part of this is that Cupid came calling...Danny and Miracle are an "item." These two deserve only the best, considering the hardships they have endured. This picture is of their first "official" date. They took a trip together to Animall, an adoption center operating in a shopping mall near Raleigh, NC.  www.animall.org. Both, while still having some issues related to their traumatic experience, are living a good life here at Sabrina's House.

Comet (the goldfish)
Comet
This is a large goldfish named Comet.  He is about 3 years old.  If you look carefully, you will see a tumor growing on his back.  He had surgery performed at the College Of Veterinary Medicine at NC State University to remove that mass.  It was filmed and parts of his surgery broadcast on the program Nova on PBS.  Comet's surgery was successful and he is now in retirement swimming around in our living room.
