Opie
Well, this isn't a rabbit. It's Opie.... our Brazilian Short Tail Opossum (STO). It's a marsupial that is related to our Virginia "possums". He is nocturnal so he is rarely out during the daylight hours. He also has all the teeth that our local opossums have.
Contrary to popular belief, even wild opossums are not aggressive at all and will faint when scared...hence the term "playing possum". They had much rather be left alone. They will attack only as a last resort. This guy has a prehensile tail which means it can hang by it's tail.
The STO is an omnivore and eats a variety of meaty and vegetable matter. We feed our little guy a variety of high quality canine foods, insects, meal worms and fruits.
